The Adventure of the Dying Detective (瀕死の探偵, Hinshi no Tantei) is the 17th episode of the Parasyte -the maxim- (寄生獣 セイの格率,, Kiseijū Sei no Kakuritsu) anime series.

Overview[]

After dealing with three enemies who wanted her dead, Reiko learns that her child was kidnapped by Kuramori, who intends to get revenge on her. Reiko then asks Shinichi to meet her at the park and then leaves to confront Kuramori, aware that Murano is following her, hoping to meet Shinichi again. The police begin searching the park after Reiko kills Kuramori, in order to save her son's life.

Summary[]

Kusano, Hikawa and another Parasite ally move in on Tamura, who expresses interest at the fact that Parasites are beginning to show signs of individuality. She murders the three of them and returns home to find that her baby has been kidnapped by Kuramori. A note is left behind, giving the time and location for a meeting if she wants to see her child again. Later, Hirama, Chouji and some other detectives break into her apartment and see the note.

She travels to the deserted Izumi residence and views pictures of a young Shinichi with his parents, gaining more information about maternal love. She contacts Shinichi and asks that he show up at her rendezvous with Kuramori, as well. Murano bumps into Tamura as she leaves Shinichi's house and the woman assures her that Shinichi will return soon.

Murano follows Shinichi (and later, Tamura) to a location near their rendezvous point. Kuramori is there with Tamura's son and he assumes Tamura cannot be a caring parent. Mistakenly thinking he is about to kill her son, Tamura pierces Kuramori through the heart. The detectives find the dying Kuramori who directs them toward Tamura and alludes to Shinichi being his work partner.

The episode ends with Shinichi coming face to face with Tamura.
