The Sun Also Rises (日はまた昇る, Hi wa Mata Noboru) is the 6th episode of the Parasyte -the maxim- (寄生獣 セイの格率,, Kiseijū Sei no Kakuritsu) anime series.
Overview[]
After Shinichi is mortally wounded, Migi uses its powers to save his life, weakening itself in the process. When Shinichi hears that his father is still alive, he rushes to the hospital where he is being treated, in order to protect him. After Migi senses a parasite Shinichi races toward it, in hope of enacting revenge for his mother's death.
Summary[]
After Nobuko's possessed body pierced her son through the heart, Migi quickly relocates himself into the wound to function as Shinichi's heart while the damaged organ is being repaired, planning to return to his right hand through his bloodstream. At school the next day, Shinichi's friends (Murano in particular) are worried about his absence. That night, Shinichi wakes up to realize his puncture wound is sealed, and that he no longer needs glasses.
He is contacted by Sakurazaki Hospital, at which Kazuyuki is staying. Shinichi travels there, resolved to kill the Parasite that took over his mother, telling Murano along the way that he will be away for a while and will be back. At the hospital, Kazuyuki is convinced by investigators that he hallucinated his memories of the Parasite attack.
Upon meeting his father, Shinichi finds he is unable to cry despite his intense grief. He stays at Namiki Inn, run by Makiko Hayase's family. That night, Migi informs Shinichi of a new weakness as a result of healing his heart wound: he needs to sleep four hours a day and neither will he be able to sense Parasites or any other external stimuli while asleep.
The next day, Shinichi stands guard outside the hospital and Migi alerts him to the presence of a Parasite near the coast. Makiko mistakenly points him in the direction of a seawall, but Shinichi bypasses it by jumping several metres from a standing position.
The episode ends with Shinichi confronting the Parasite that Migi had detected.
