The Article Style Guide is here to help standardize articles throughout the site, such as name spelling or article format.
Contents
General format
The first letter of every header and article should automatically be capitalized. However, headers and articles should not be capitalized unless they are names or other proper nouns (i.e. "Shinichi Izumi" vs "Powers & abilities" or "Ryoko Tamiya's mother").
Naming & translation
The title the work this wiki is based on should be referred to as the common English translation, "Parasyte", unless using a direct transliteration. The parasites should be left uncapitalized to minimize confusion with Jaw's first name.
Diacritics (ā, ē, ō, ū) should be avoided in article names, as they are difficult to type and easy to forget. For the most part, they should only be used in direct transliterations to preserve as much accuracy as possible. When transliterating (going from Japanese kanji or hiragana to Latin letters (rōmaji) use the format (kanji, rōmaji). Ideally, this will follow the Hepburn format.
Although most names should be left untranslated, directional names such as "Higashi" (East) should be translated to English.
Names of people are sorted by Last Name, First Name in categories (such as Izumi Nobuko or Tamura Reiko's Child). Example: {{DEFAULTSORT: Izumi Shinichi}}
Conflict between mediums
Due to the greater amount of info in the manga, it should be used as the default basis of story info such as plot. Anime info that does not contradict the manga can be inserted without remark. Anime or movie info that does contradict the manga should be added in a footnote, or inserted in the trivia section. The code should look like this: <ref> Text example</ref> Example [1]
Warning: this guide is a work in progress below this point. Do not change anything to meet these standards for now.
